Contract to start ASAP

Duration: 12 weeks with a possible extension.

Job Purpose

To carry out a range of groundworks, construction, and maintenance activities across the borough, supporting the delivery of highways, environmental, and public realm services.

The role involves working as part of a team to ensure that infrastructure and public spaces are safe, well-maintained, and meet required standards.

We are seeking 4no temporary groundworkers to assist with seasonal growth.

Responsibilities

Undertake general groundworks including excavation, drainage, concreting, paving, kerbing, and reinstatement works.

Assist with the construction, repair and maintenance of highways, footpaths, and public spaces.

Operate small plant and tools such as compactors, breakers, and disc cutters in a safe manner.

Support skilled tradespeople and supervisors in delivering projects on time and to specification.

Ensure work areas are properly set up with appropriate signage, barriers, and traffic management where required.

Carry out routine inspections and report defects, hazards, or safety concerns.

Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment as required.

Maintain a clean and safe working environment at all times.

Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including the use of PPE.

Assist with emergency works such as flood response, winter maintenance, or urgent repairs.

Engage professionally with members of the public when working in community areas.

It is essential that the candidates are able to drive with a cat B licence.
