Prevention Worker
Job Description:
Contract to start ASAP until 12-10-26 with a possible extension.
Job Purpose:
To undertake assessments of young people referred to the Youth Justice Service (YJS) Prevention Team and to develop of a range of interventions specifically aimed at addressing the anti-social behaviour of young people on the YJS Prevention programme.
To manage and coordinate a caseload of young people, prioritising workload to ensure issues of child protection and quality of service, health and safety and confidentiality are observed, networking with partnerships and other agencies to optimise delivery of the provision.
To quickly develop positive relationships and provide mentoring and motivational support including advice and guidance with children and young people and their families to ensure voluntary engagement with programmes and diversionary activities aimed at re-engagement with universal services and provision.
To develop strong links with external agencies and partner organisations and attend a range of multi-agency meetings aimed at localised problem solving.
To include providing reports to feed into future planning for the children and young people in accordance with other services.
To safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people by fulfilling all duties and responsibilities required by the Social Services and Wellbeing (Wales) Act 2014 and Registration and Inspection of Social Care (Wales) Act 2016 and adhere to The Wales Safeguarding Procedures.
To maintain timely and accurate records of all interventions on the YOT database
To attend team meetings and receive regular supervision and appraisal. Occasional evening and weekend working.
