Job Description:

Contract to start ASAP until 29-05-26 with a possible extension.

Job Purpose

To carry out the maintenance, inspection, servicing, and repair of Nottingham City Councils fleet of light vehicles, ensuring all vehicles are safe, roadworthy, and compliant with legal and operational standards.

The postholder will contribute to the efficient operation of the Councils fleet to support essential public services.

Responsibilities

Perform routine servicing, maintenance, and mechanical repairs on light vehicles including cars, vans, and small commercial vehicles.

Diagnose faults using diagnostic equipment and carry out effective repairs.

Conduct MOT preparation and ensure vehicles meet DVSA standards.

Complete vehicle inspections in line with statutory and Council requirements.

Maintain accurate service and repair records using fleet management systems.

Carry out brake, suspension, steering, engine, transmission, and electrical system repairs.

Ensure all work is completed in accordance with health and safety regulations.

Use tools, equipment, and workshop facilities safely and responsibly.

Respond to breakdowns and carry out roadside repairs where required.

Assist with maintaining workshop cleanliness and organisation.

Candidate must have a valid UK Driving License

The candidate would need to hold IMI level 3 light vehicle maintenance & repair or equivalent (city and guilds) as a minimum.

The candidate would preferably have an MOT tester licence as well (class 4,5 & 7).
