Job Purpose

To provide general labouring support across a range of council operations, ensuring that work is carried out safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.

The role involves assisting skilled tradespeople, maintaining public spaces, handling materials and equipment, and contributing to the delivery of essential services for the community.

Responsibilities

Assist with general maintenance, construction, landscaping, and environmental works.

Load, unload, move, and store materials, tools, and equipment safely.

Support tradespeople and operational teams on-site as required.

Carry out manual handling tasks, including lifting, carrying, and transporting materials.

Maintain cleanliness and safety of work areas, depots, and public spaces.

Operate basic tools and equipment in accordance with training and safety procedures.

Assist with waste collection, recycling, grounds maintenance, and other council service activities.

Follow work schedules and instructions provided by supervisors.

Report defects, hazards, incidents, and accidents promptly.

Adhere to all health and safety regulations, policies, and procedures.

Provide a professional and courteous service when interacting with members of the public.
