Job Description:

Contract to start ASAP until 25-10-26 with a possible extension.

Job Purpose

Prepare budget estimates for specific elements of service revenue and capital budgets.

Prepare and collate financial information in order to respond to complex ad-hoc requests and queries from budget managers and routine requirements of corporate financial processes.

Identify significant variances against performance targets so that appropriate corrective action can be taken.

Maintain and report on specific elements of financial systems, processes, budgets and accounts and complete statistical and financial returns in accordance with the financial policies and statutory obligations of the Council.

Maintain detailed financial records, documentation and working papers in order to ensure consistent audit trails, and a sound basis for technical analysis and decision making.

Carry out, under the supervision of senior managers, research into specific financial issues, including detailed transaction analysis and testing to facilitate investigation of potential inefficiencies and irregularities.

Supervise the work of Accountancy Assistants and/or Finance Trainees within the team on a day-to-day basis, ensuring that tasks are carried out accurately and on a timely basis.
