Contract to start ASAP until 11-09-26 with a possible extension.

We are looking for an experienced and passionate Chef to oversee the catering service within a residential care setting. You will be responsible for preparing nutritious, high-quality meals for children, young people, staff and visitors, ensuring all food is prepared and served to the highest standards of quality, hygiene and food safety.

You will manage menu planning, stock ordering and budget control while maintaining a clean, safe and efficient kitchen. This is an excellent opportunity for a chef who enjoys making a positive difference through nutritious home-style cooking in a caring environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook nutritious, well-balanced meals in line with agreed menus and dietary requirements.
• Ensure food is presented to a high standard and served at the appropriate times.
• Plan menus, order stock and manage food budgets effectively.
• Check deliveries for quality and quantity and liaise with suppliers where required.
• Maintain excellent food hygiene, cleanliness and kitchen safety standards.
• Carry out stock control and maintain secure food storage areas.
• Complete cleaning schedules and maintain kitchen equipment.
• Comply with Food Hygiene, COSHH, Health & Safety and safeguarding procedures.
• Support risk assessments and promote safe working practices.

Requirements

• Previous experience working as a Chef, Cook or Catering Supervisor.
• Knowledge of food hygiene, food safety and Health & Safety legislation.
• Experience managing stock, ordering supplies and working within a budget.
• Ability to prepare meals for a variety of dietary requirements.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 2 or above) is desirable.
