Job Purpose

The Systems Support Analyst (Information Technology) is responsible for providing technical support, administration, and maintenance of the Council's IT systems, business applications, and supporting infrastructure.

The role ensures that technology services remain secure, reliable, and available to support Council operations.

The post holder will diagnose and resolve technical issues, support system implementations and upgrades, maintain system documentation, and work collaboratively with internal teams, suppliers, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality IT services.

Responsibilities

Provide first-, second-, and where appropriate, third-line support for business systems, applications, and IT infrastructure.

Investigate, diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve technical incidents and service requests in accordance with agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

Monitor the health, performance, and availability of systems and applications, taking proactive action to minimise downtime.

Administer user accounts, permissions, and access controls in line with security policies and governance requirements.

Support the installation, configuration, testing, and deployment of software applications, system upgrades, patches, and enhancements.

Maintain accurate records of incidents, service requests, and technical changes using the Council's IT Service Management (ITSM) platform.

Produce and maintain technical documentation, support procedures, user guides, and knowledge base articles.

Work closely with Service Desk, Infrastructure, Cyber Security, Network, and Project teams to resolve technical issues and improve service delivery.
