Job Description:

Contract to start ASAP until 31-12-26 with a possible extension.

Job Purpose

The Programme Officer is responsible for supporting the successful planning, coordination, delivery, and monitoring of programmes and projects across West Sussex County Council.

The role provides comprehensive programme management, governance, reporting, and administrative support to ensure strategic initiatives are delivered on time, within budget, and in line with the Council's objectives.

The postholder will work closely with programme managers, project teams, senior stakeholders, and external partners to facilitate effective programme delivery and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

Programme Support

Provide day-to-day support for the planning, coordination, and delivery of programmes and projects.

Monitor programme progress and identify potential risks, issues, and dependencies.

Support the implementation of programme governance frameworks and methodologies.

Coordinate programme activities to ensure objectives are achieved within agreed timescales.

Project Coordination

Organise and support programme and project meetings, workshops, and stakeholder engagement sessions.

Prepare agendas, reports, presentations, minutes, and action logs.

Track actions and ensure timely completion by relevant stakeholders.

Maintain programme documentation, registers, and project records.

Monitoring and Reporting

Collect, analyse, and report programme performance data.

Produce regular progress reports, dashboards, and performance updates for senior management.

Monitor budgets, resource allocation, and expenditure where required.

Escalate risks, issues, and exceptions in accordance with programme governance processes.

Stakeholder Engagement

Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal departments, external partners, and suppliers.

Act as a key point of contact for programme-related enquiries.

Support communication activities to ensure stakeholders are informed of programme progress and changes.

Facilitate collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.
