Job Description:

Contract to start ASAP until 24-06-26 with a possible extension.

Job Purpose

To support the delivery of a high-quality street cleansing service across Derby City Council's operational areas.

The postholder will undertake driving duties and street cleansing activities to ensure public spaces, roads, footpaths, parks, and other council-managed areas are maintained to a clean, safe, and attractive standard.

Responsibilities

Street Cleansing Operations

Carry out manual and mechanical street cleansing duties across designated areas.

Remove litter, debris, leaves, fly-tipped waste, and other environmental nuisances.

Empty litter bins and replace liners as required.

Clean public areas, pedestrian zones, highways, parks, and open spaces.

Respond to emergency cleansing requirements, adverse weather conditions, and environmental incidents.

Driving Duties

Safely operate council vehicles, including street cleansing vehicles, vans, and other designated equipment in accordance with licence requirements.

Conduct daily vehicle inspections and complete relevant safety checks and documentation.

Report vehicle defects, accidents, incidents, and maintenance requirements promptly.

Ensure vehicles are operated in compliance with road traffic legislation and council procedures.
