Job Purpose

The Passenger Fleet Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day supervision and efficient operation of Barnet Council's passenger transport fleet.

The role ensures that vehicles, drivers, and transport services operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all relevant legislation, council policies, and service standards.

The post holder will support the delivery of reliable transport services for vulnerable residents, including children, older adults, and individuals with disabilities.

Responsibilities

Supervise the daily operation of the passenger transport fleet to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient service delivery.

Coordinate vehicle scheduling, allocation, and utilisation to maximise operational efficiency.

Monitor driver attendance, performance, and compliance with council policies and statutory regulations.

Ensure all drivers hold valid licences, permits, and mandatory training certifications.

Conduct regular vehicle inspections and ensure defects are reported and resolved promptly.

Liaise with vehicle maintenance providers to schedule servicing, MOTs, repairs, and preventative maintenance.

Maintain accurate fleet records, including maintenance logs, inspections, fuel usage, and compliance documentation.

Investigate incidents, accidents, complaints, and near misses, implementing corrective actions where required.

Monitor transport performance against key performance indicators (KPIs) and prepare operational reports.
