Job Purpose

The Housing Strategy & Development Officer will support the development, implementation, and delivery of the Council's housing strategy, ensuring that housing services and development initiatives meet local needs and contribute to the Council's wider strategic objectives.

The postholder will play a key role in housing policy development, affordable housing delivery, partnership working, regeneration projects, and housing needs analysis.

The role requires strong analytical, project management, and stakeholder engagement skills to help drive sustainable housing growth, improve housing outcomes, and support the delivery of high-quality homes across the city.

Responsibilities

Support the development and delivery of the Council's Housing Strategy, ensuring alignment with corporate priorities, housing needs, and government policy.

Undertake research and analysis of housing market trends, demographic data, and local housing requirements to inform strategic decision-making.

Assist in identifying opportunities for new housing developments, regeneration initiatives, and affordable housing projects across the city.

Work collaboratively with planning teams, housing associations, developers, and other stakeholders to facilitate the delivery of housing growth objectives.

Monitor housing development schemes and assess progress against agreed targets, funding requirements, and strategic outcomes.

Prepare reports, briefings, policy documents, and recommendations for senior management, elected members, and external partners.

Support the management of housing-related projects, ensuring effective coordination, risk management, and delivery within agreed timescales.

Contribute to the development and implementation of policies that promote sustainable communities, housing affordability, and improved housing standards.

Gather, maintain, and analyse housing performance data to support service planning, policy reviews, and performance reporting.
