Job Purpose

The Food Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring that food businesses within the Royal Borough of Kingston comply with food safety legislation and public health standards.

The role aims to protect public health by monitoring, inspecting, and advising food operators on safe food practices.

Responsibilities

Carry out routine and reactive inspections of food premises

Enforce food safety, hygiene, and health regulations

Investigate food complaints and food poisoning incidents

Provide advice and guidance to food business operators

Assess food safety management systems (HACCP)

Issue improvement notices, warnings, and legal notices where required

Prepare reports and legal documentation for enforcement action

Maintain accurate records and databases

Participate in food safety campaigns and public awareness initiatives

Work collaboratively with Environmental Health and Public Health teams

• Full UK driving licence (desirable)
