Multi-Skilled Building Services Engineer – Mechanical/Plumbing Bias

Job Description:

Contract to start ASAP
Duration: 24 weeks with a possible extension.

Responsibilities

Complete mechanical and plumbing PPMs within the required timescales and to the correct standard.

Diagnose and repair faults affecting commercial plumbing, heating and mechanical systems.

Maintain pumps, pressurisation units, expansion vessels, calorifiers, booster sets, valves and associated plant.

Repair domestic hot and cold-water services.

Service TMVs and support water hygiene and Legionella control activities within the engineer's competence.

Undertake minor mechanical installation and remedial works.

Identify the underlying cause of faults and recommend appropriate remedial action to reduce repeat failures.

Record work accurately and promptly using Camden's CAFM system and issued mobile technology.

Work 'live' by updating jobs, materials, findings and completion details while attending sites.

Provide clear notes explaining what was inspected, what was found, what action was taken and whether further work is required.

Manage and prioritise an allocated workload, including PPMs and reactive jobs.

Communicate professionally with school staff, caretakers, building users, contractors and colleagues.

Complete dynamic risk assessments and follow permit-to-work and site safety procedures.

Maintain the work vehicle, tools and equipment appropriately.

Support colleagues across the wider M&E team where competent.

Mentor and support the assigned apprentice.
