Job Description:
Contract to start ASAP until 20-09-26 with a possible extension.
Responsibilities
Where required by a line manager document, support, maintain, configure or develop security technologies to meet and/or exceed agreed service levels.
Assist in technical vulnerability assessments of IT systems and processes, identifying potential vulnerabilities, to make recommendations to control any risks identified and to ensure they are implemented.
Support rapidly and effectively to IT security incidents, managing them in a professional manor including computer forensics for evidence gathering and preservation.
Appropriate and sensitive handling of effected staff and efficient liaison with external and law enforcement agencies when required.
Provide the coordination of regular Information Security Reviews in the council and with partners in the YHWARP, NCSC, NCA, LRF etc.
Working closely with the departments to assist and provide input to ensure that council policies and procedures for Information Security are effective and are adhered to.
Be proactive in making recommendations for updates to policies & procedures as required.
Support in providing high quality Information Security guidance documentation and training.
Be the definitive point of contact for all members of the council seeking advice on information security
Assit in maintaing the information and Cyber security risk register and carry out actions to mitigate risks identified
Liaise with external security agencies where required and ensure that any information requested is provided on a timely and secure basis, to represent the council in Information security fora.
Keep up to date with security trends, threats and control measures, to be an active member of the Information security manager communities (particularly those working within YHWARP).
Support the continuous development and enhancement of the service, and ensure that customer care and service excellence are established as core values.
Follow service management processes to ensure consistency and effectiveness of the service and contribute to continuous process improvement.
Use agreed IT service management tools to accurately capture data relating to ITIL processes.
Ensure service related documentation is accurate and relevant.
Collaborate with colleagues to identify and investigate problems in systems and services throughout the organisation.
Assist with the implementation of remedies and preventative measures.
