Job Description:

Contract to start ASAP until 11-09-26 with a possible extension.

We are looking for a proactive and organised Placements Officer to join our Children's Social Care team. This is a rewarding opportunity to support the recruitment, engagement and retention of foster carers while helping to secure safe, stable and suitable placements for children and young people in care.

Working closely with fostering teams, supervising social workers and partner agencies, you will play a key role in maintaining foster carer relationships, coordinating engagement initiatives and supporting placement matching to ensure the best possible outcomes for children.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the recruitment, engagement and retention of in-house foster carers.
  • Coordinate suitable placements for children and young people in care.
  • Act as the main point of contact for foster carers, providing advice and ongoing support.
  • Organise foster carer events, engagement activities, support groups and recognition initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate records of foster carer availability, capacity and support needs.
  • Work with supervising social workers to identify carers requiring additional support.
  • Develop and analyse surveys and feedback to improve foster carer satisfaction and retention.
  • Promote peer support networks and buddy schemes for new and existing foster carers.
  • Contribute to service improvements that enhance placement stability and positive outcomes for children.

Requirements

  • Experience working within Children's Social Care, Fostering, Placements or a similar environment.
  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building abilities.
  • Experience coordinating multiple tasks and managing competing priorities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with professionals, foster carers and partner agencies.
  • Strong IT skills and experience maintaining accurate records and databases.
  • A commitment to improving outcomes for children and young people.
