Contract to start ASAP

Duration: 12 weeks with a possible extension.

Job Purpose

To work through a backlog of phase transfers and draft plans.

Completing all steps of the SEND process including writing plans/amendment notices, consulting with settings.

As well as being in regular communication with schools and settings.

To have accountability and ownership over the young people on the caseload.

The SEND Assessment & Review Officer is responsible for coordinating Education, Health and Care Needs Assessments (EHCNAs) and annual reviews for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

The role ensures statutory duties are fulfilled within required timescales while supporting positive educational outcomes and effective partnership working with families, schools, and professionals.

Responsibilities

Manage a caseload of Education, Health and Care Needs Assessments and annual reviews in accordance with SEND legislation and the SEND Code of Practice.

Coordinate the assessment process by gathering professional advice from education, health, and social care services.

Prepare, amend, and maintain Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).

Ensure statutory timescales and legal requirements are consistently met.

Work collaboratively with schools, parents, carers, and partner agencies to support children and young people with SEND.

Attend and contribute to review meetings, multi-agency meetings, and case discussions.

Provide advice and guidance to families and professionals regarding SEND processes and entitlements.
