We have a fixed term opportunity to join our Procurement Team which implements innovative procurement solutions to ensure the Council achieves best value through its relationships with suppliers, companies and other partners.
As a Procurement Officer, you will be joining a small, busy team dealing with a wide range of spend categories across the authority and respective spend areas.
This is a great opportunity for someone interested further developing their career in public sector procurement.
Reporting to one of the Procurement Category leads, this exciting role will support the management of the organisation's procurement functions, ensuring all purchasing activity is transparent, compliant, and cost-effective.
You will provide expert advice to stakeholder and undertake tendering activities.
You will also monitor procurement activity, analyse markets, maintain accurate records, support audits, and build strong relationships with suppliers and partners to help deliver value for money and support organisational goals.
The successful candidate will through the provision of best practice procurement including e-procurement solutions and financial systems support the wider procurement team function.
Therefore proven experience of using electronic systems and Microsoft office (especially Excel) and Unit 4 ERP is essential.
The post holder will also need to have good communication and analytical expertise as well as the ability to organise and prioritise daily tasks and workload.
The role requires the candidate to have excellent teamwork skills and the ability to create good working relationships both across the Council and its partners.
We are interested in hearing from you if you hold as a minimum: Member of the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) Level 4 (or hold an equivalent procurement qualification) or working towards and have experience of working in a public sector procurement, finance, or commissioning environment, along with knowledge of the full procurement lifecycle.
You will have knowledge of the stages involved in developing and implementing contracting strategies, and an understanding of current Public sector procurement legislation.
