Job Purpose:

To quality assure locum Educational Psychologist reports to ensure they meet required standards before being passed to the SEND team.

Responsibilities:

Receive Educational Psychologist reports submitted by locum practitioners.

Read and review reports to check quality, clarity, and completeness.

Identify any required amendments and provide clear feedback to the locum Educational Psychologist.

Return reports for amendment where necessary.

Receive and review amended reports to ensure required changes have been made.

Confirm when reports are satisfactory and ready to be passed to the SEND team.

Qualified Educational Psychologist (or equivalent senior EP professional)

Senior‑level experience enabling independent professional judgement

Strong knowledge of SEND statutory duties (Children and Families Act 2014)

Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice

Understanding of how EP reports are used in EHCPs and EHCNAs

Understanding of tribunal‑ready and legally defensible EP advice

Experience writing, supervising or reviewing EP reports

Experience quality assuring professional EP work

Ability to assess reports for clarity, consistency and evidence‑based reasoning

Ability to identify professional and statutory risk in reports

Ability to provide clear, constructive QA feedback

Understanding of professional and ethical EP standards

Awareness of external scrutiny (tribunal, Ombudsman, Ofsted, courts)

Ability to work independently using professional judgement

Commitment to person‑centred and inclusive practice
