Job Description:
Contract to start ASAP until 31-05-26 with a possible extension.
JOB PURPOSE
To work in partnership with all private sector and social landlords to increase access to accommodation and offer landlords support to maintain tenancies at risk
To manage, administer and make decisions regarding the council's tenancy deposit loan and bond scheme in accordance with relevant policies and procedures. To complete financial assessments of customers and ensure Council loans responsibly
To provide resettlement support to clients assisted in the first 3 months of their private rented tenancy, when assisted by the councils rent deposit scheme
To administer the allocation of tenancies and nominations to Housing Associations in accordance with Council policies, procedures and the requirements of the Housing Act 1996
RESPONSIBILITIES
Monitor, evaluate and administer the tenancy deposit loan and bond schemes processes, complete assessment for loans, rent deposits or deposit bonds including photographic evidence of property condition and inventories and to manage loan and bond recovery.
Complete rent deposit loan sign ups with clients including financial assessment and giving basic money advice, making repayment agreements in every case.
Contact clients regularly by telephone, letter and in person to recover monies lent by the Authority.
Monitor client's monthly repayments and update support records accordingly.
Liaise with colleagues in financial services to ensure maximum income recovery.
Work with deposit protection schemes to ensure accurate and lawful registration and protection of the councils financial interests. Carry out bond claim assessments using gathered evidence which is verified from landlord and tenant.
Maintain positive relationships with private sector landlords and increase access to private sector accommodation through proactive accommodation finding
To ensure properties are appropriately advertised on the Dorset HomeChoice Scheme
To allocate all properties available to the Council in line with the Council's Allocations Policy and the requirements of the Housing Act 1996 Part 6 (as amended by the Homelessness Act 2002), and other relevant legislation
To assess the suitability of accommodation for households in partnership with appropriate professionals
