Job Description:

Contract to start ASAP until 02-08-27 with a possible extension.

We are looking for an experienced LCV Technician to join a busy fleet maintenance team. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified vehicle technician to carry out the maintenance, servicing, diagnostics and repair of Light Commercial Vehicles (LCVs), ensuring the Council's fleet remains safe, compliant and roadworthy.

Working within a professional workshop environment, you will carry out routine servicing, fault diagnosis and repairs using the latest diagnostic equipment, while ensuring all work meets DVSA/VOSA standards and Operator Licence requirements. You will also respond to vehicle breakdowns, participate in an out-of-hours standby rota and contribute to maintaining a safe and efficient workshop.

Key Responsibilities

  • Service, maintain and repair Light Commercial Vehicles (LCVs).
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic faults.
  • Carry out inspections in line with DVSA/VOSA standards and Operator Licence requirements.
  • Respond to vehicle breakdowns and carry out roadside repairs where required.
  • Complete service records, inspection sheets and workshop documentation.
  • Operate diagnostic equipment and specialist workshop tools.
  • Maintain a safe, clean and organised workshop environment.
  • Support the training and development of apprentices and new employees.
  • Participate in shift working and the out-of-hours standby rota.

Requirements

  • Level 3 qualification in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (or equivalent).
  • Proven experience maintaining and repairing Light Commercial Vehicles (LCVs).
  • Experience using vehicle diagnostic equipment and carrying out fault finding.
  • Good knowledge of vehicle maintenance, servicing and repair procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Strong commitment to Health & Safety and delivering high-quality workmanship.
