Job Purpose

To deliver high-quality environmental health and regulatory services to protect public health, safety, and wellbeing within the Royal Borough of Kingston.

The role involves enforcement, inspection, advisory, and technical duties across a range of environmental health functions.

Responsibilities

Carry out inspections and investigations relating to environmental health matters, including housing standards, food safety, noise nuisance, pollution, and public health.

Enforce relevant legislation, policies, and regulations in line with statutory duties.

Investigate complaints regarding environmental health issues and take appropriate action.

Conduct risk assessments, monitoring, and sampling where required.

Prepare legal case files and provide evidence for prosecutions and formal proceedings.

Provide professional advice and guidance to residents, businesses, and stakeholders.

Undertake housing inspections under the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS).

Issue statutory notices and follow up on compliance.

Support licensing, pest control, and pollution control functions as required.

Maintain accurate case records and databases.

Participate in out-of-hours rotas, emergency response, and incident management.

Work collaboratively with internal departments and external agencies.

Contribute to service improvement and policy development.

Full UK driving licence or ability to travel across the borough
