Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Vehicle Technician to carry out and assist with the repair and maintenance of a wide range of vehicles, including cars, light and heavy commercial vehicles, and plant equipment. The role involves diagnosing faults, ordering parts, preparing vehicles for MOT, and completing repairs to DVSA standards.

You will work within a council vehicle repair workshop, ensuring vehicles are safe, compliant, and maintained to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose faults and carry out repairs on cars, light commercial, heavy goods vehicles, and plant equipment
• Prepare vehicles for MOT testing and ensure compliance with DVSA standards
• Carry out vehicle inspections and servicing
• Order parts and complete all associated documentation accurately
• Ensure all work is completed safely and to required quality standards

About You

• NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds Motor Vehicle Craft Studies (Parts 1, 2 & 3) or equivalent
• Experience working in a local authority or similar vehicle repair workshop
• Strong knowledge of MOT preparation and DVSA inspection standards
• Skilled in the repair of light and heavy goods vehicles
• Holder of a valid VOSA MOT Testers Certificate or willing to work towards it
• Willing to undertake ongoing training, including ultra-low emission vehicle (ULEV) technologies
• Full UK driving licence (minimum Category B)
